about
Hello! My name is Michael Moroz and I’m glad you’ve stumbled upon my overly simplistic (yet amusingly plain) website.
I’m currently working as a postgraduate researcher in the Department of Psychology at Yale University with Dr. Randolph Helfrich, M.D., Ph.D., where I research cognitive control and memory in humans using non-invasive (scalp EEG, MEG) and invasive (intracranial EEG) methods. Prior to my employment at Yale, I worked in the Department of Psychology at the University of Chicago with Dr. Jai Yu, Ph.D., where I researched unconscious behavioural responding in humans.
I’m originally from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada (yes it’s very cold) and am a diehard Edmonton Oilers fan. I am of Ukrainian- and English descent, and come from a long line of canola farmers from the very small town of Smoky Lake, Alberta (approximately an hour and a half drive northeast of Edmonton). I love listening to country music (Morgan Wallen, Bailey Zimmerman, and Florida Georgia Line are my absolute favourites), and really enjoy rural life.
I hold dual B.Sc. degrees, one in Psychology, and the other in Political Science, from Arizona State University. I completed my M.A. at the University of Chicago under the mentorship of Dr. Jai Yu. I have general research interests in cognitive neuroscience, particularly neuroplasticity, cognitive control, and memory. I have secondary research interests in statistics and computational modeling, specifically analysis of fit, neural network modeling, and multiple/logistic regression.
